Overboard Music?

Every once in a while my wife and I come across a song that perfectly describes some aspect of the Overboard Life. We usually end up downloading the song to our iPhones and listening to them until they are quickly memorized. Even the kids will tell us about songs they’ve heard that inspiring or motivating to them and we love to listen to those types of songs together as a family.

(By the way, on our last Sunday in Salem, my good friend Joe played a song he wrote based on Matthew 14. I hope we’ll be able to get a recording soon, so you can hear the amazing song Joe wrote.)

One we picked up last year was from the movie, Secretariat (which, by the way, is a must see movie if you haven’t seen it yet!). It’s from AJ Michalka (the girl we named our son after)*. It’s a song that reminds us that winning and losing aren’t the main issues in life, it’s the process of becoming that matters most.

Check out AJ’s song (with lyrics) and see if you can relate to this Overboard message.

I love the Apostles Paul words to Timothy at the end of his life. In probably a less musical style he said, “I have run my race” — he had finished the course God had for him. What about you, are running your race?

Go ahead and take the plunge, life is always better on the water!

*Ok, AJ wasn’t really named after AJ, but it makes for a good one-liner in a blog and it embarrasses my son every time I say it.

You crack me up Joe! AJ being named after a girl. I was a little concerned for his manhood but mainly his parents. Who does that? Way to get my attention!

God continues to use you to bless me. I praise God for you. Thanks for sharing this TODAY.
